Do Blue Light Blocking Glasses Actually Work?

YES, blue light blocking glasses actually work for me! I am someone who has a history with headaches, and I have tried every remedy there is! So sit tight while I tell you what I know about them.

What Are Blue Light Blocking Glasses? To put it simply, blue light blocking glasses are glasses that have filters that block out blue light. So why is blue light bad for you? Well I don’t know, but it gives me headaches… so that’s all I need to know. Just kidding! Here’s some extra information for those who care…

Blue light can be good if you are exposed to it naturally(the sun) and in small amounts, but if you are exposed to it too much, it can cause digital eye strain or daytime fatigue.

All About Vision says “Because short-wavelength, high energy blue light scatters more easily than other visible light, it is not as easily focused. When you’re looking at computer screens and other digital devices that emit significant amounts of blue light, this unfocused visual “noise” reduces contrast and can contribute to digital eye strain.”

Studies have also shown that blue light can damage your retina in the long run, so even if you aren’t getting headaches from eye strain, it might be a good idea to protect your eyes regardless.

Remedies I use to Get Rid of Headaches

The first thing I do to avoid getting a headache is by changing my digital screens to “night mode”. This puts a yellow tint over my screen, and it has made a significant difference for me!

Another thing I love to do is switch my phone & computer screen to a black background rather than a white background.

Sometimes if I have a headache, I rub peppermint oil on my temples and I put some under my nose. It usually does the trick for a while, but sometimes my headache comes back.

Caffeine has also helped my headaches if I know it’s caused by eye strain. On the other hand, caffeine will make my headache worse if I know it’s caused from being in the sun all day, or from dehydration.

Lastly, I wear blue light blocking glasses! I tried all of these remedies, and yes they all work. To be honest I love wearing trendy glasses, and I think they look pretty cute! I will put them on throughout the day if I know I’m going to be looking at social media, typing on my computer, or sometimes I wear them just for fun!

How Do You Know If the Glasses You’re Buying Are Blue Light Blocking?

Well, to be honest I’m not sure if there are different levels of advanced technology for blue light blocking glasses. Which is why I buy mine from a quality glasses company like Quay Australia, rather than buying a pair for $20 from a retailer that I don’t know. You can always tell though, because in certain lighting, it will have a subtle yellow hue. Most people won’t be able to tell they are yellow by looking at you though, and for the most part, they are clear in photos.

What If I Already Wear Glasses?

If you can afford to buy a pair from your local eye doctor and pay an additional cost for a filter that blocks blue light, I would do that. I’ve seen some glasses at Nordstrom that were reading glasses + blue light blocking, but I can’t remember what brand they were. I personally wear contacts and the blue light blocking glasses, because my prescription is constantly changing and I’m sick of investing my money into my prescription glasses.

Quay Australia Sale

The whole reason I made this post is because Quay Australia is having a big sale, and I want you guys to be able to take advantage of it! I am clearly a fan of Quay Australia, because I own all of the glasses in these pictures, and they have helped me tremendously! I have to point out that my sister and I have compared the mini’s to the regular versions, and there is hardly any difference. So I’d get the minis and I’ll attach those. If you have a rather large head, maybe buy the regular sizing? I really wouldn’t stress about it though.

Their sale is 15% off any 2+ frames! If you were ever thinking about getting their blue light blocking glasses, or sunglasses, DO IT NOW!

This is not a sponsored post, although I can make money off of the commissionable links in this blog. If you decide to take part in this sale, please use my links and pictures in this blog(cuz yo girl lost her job due to COVID-19). Please and thank you! Xoxo, Michelle.
