Say Goodbye to Bad Days

Have you ever had a really bad day and everything keeps going wrong? Usually my bad days involve being late, car issues, breaking/dropping something, and accidentally injuring myself. And guess what? They usually all happen within the same day! I’ve been going to a lot of interviews lately, and someone asked me, “If I am having a bad day, what would I do to turn it around?” The first thought that popped into my head was; I would buy my favorite food. Usually if I’m in a bad mood, good food always helps me feel better for a temporary amount of time. I know it sounds stupid and silly, but it’s a start. If I change my mindset to finding a bunch of small things that make me happy, they eventually build up and have a lasting impact on my overall mood.

Here are some other ideas that I have used to change my mood:

  • Listen to music. Music always seems to change my mood. Even if I don’t want to listen to music, I put my phone on shuffle until I find a song that vibes with my day.

  • Watch a funny video or listen to a podcast.

  • FaceTime or call someone.

  • Venting: This goes along with calling someone, but typing or writing on a piece of paper can be just as satisfying.

  • Throw on comfy clothes. Nothing adds to a bad day than wearing uncomfortable clothes.

  • Go to a public place. Being around so many different personalities will change your attitude.

  • Go for a drive. You never know what might spark your interest. I recommend driving on a road that doesn’t have traffic.

  • (If you have time) If you are musically talented, play an instrument. (Don’t play an instrument if you don’t know how and are prone to getting easily frustrated).

  • (If you have time) Get active: Stretch, workout, do yoga, run, go for a hike, play a sport, or do whatever your physical fix is. Getting your body moving usually helps everything flow and usually helps me to be in a better mood.
